We help children who have suffered a head injury regain focus and address emotional issues. We develop a customized plan that examines issues that are often effected but not treated like problem solving and working memory.

After a head injury, families are sent to a physician and often given a generic list of physical and psychological restrictions simply as a precaution. Most of the time, those restrictions are only for the first three weeks after the injury. Too often the effects from injury linger and the more subtle but pervasive issues remain, causing such problems as a prolonged lack of concentration, difficulty problem solving, retrieving information and irritability.

I’ve worked with many students who have had head injuries. I can help determine whether a neuropsychological evaluation is necessary or when a student is ready to return to the classroom. I informally assess students, determining whether some of the subtle, longer term impairments are still affecting a student's ability to learn. I can also help develop an individualized treatment plan that addresses academic, social and emotional issues.
